Jeff Fleece is a candidate for the Texas State Board of Education District 10.  As a businessman in the technology sector, Jeff is attuned to the skills necessary for success in the hypercompetitive global business environment and is committed to making sure that Texas schoolchildren are adequately prepared for success in the global marketplace.  A strong education system is the foundation for the future economic prosperity of Texas, and Jeff is focused on ensuring that students master the necessary skills in math, science, reading/writing, and social studies.

Jeff Fleece is a 1994 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a degree in mechanical (aerospace) engineering. While at West Point, Jeff was selected for a semester-long exchange program to the United States Naval Academy and received the Commandant’s Award for superior overall performance in academic, military, and physical disciplines.  He also attended the United States Army Airborne School in Fort Benning, GA, and was awarded the U.S. Army Parachutist Badge.  In 2003, he earned a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Texas in Austin. Additionally, Jeff was the valedictorian of the Jeffersonville (IN) High School Class of 1990.


Fleece served as an officer in the U.S. Army for five years and attained the rank of Captain, including service in Kuwait with the 1st Cavalry Division. His leadership roles included the following: Secretary of the General Staff, 1st Cavalry Division; cavalry squadron plans & operations officer, cavalry troop executive officer, scout platoon leader, and M1A2 tank platoon leader in the 1st Squadron, 7th U.S. Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood, Texas.

Jeff has extensive experience as an executive in commercial and government technology roles.  As the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the Texas Health & Human Services Commission, Jeff led numerous mission-critical technology modernization projects that improved services for the neediest Texans while saving taxpayers millions of dollars.  Fleece has a proven ability to efficiently manage a state budget by using best practices from business.  Jeff has worked at Dell in various technology leadership roles for over a decade.  Currently, Jeff leads an architecture, engineering, and operations team delivering cloud computing services.


Jeff worked as a volunteer on the policy staff for the George W. Bush Presidential Exploratory Committee in 1999. He also volunteered on the policy staff for the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign from 1999 to 2000.  Fleece was the Republican nominee for House District 50 in 2006 and also served as the Vice Chairman of the Travis County Republican Party.  Jeff currently serves as the Adjutant for American Legion Hunter-Morris Memorial Post 911 serving western Williamson County.


Jeff has been happily married to his wife Nicole for 13 years; they have resided on a small ranch in Williamson County for two years after living in northern Travis County for over a decade. Nicole is president of a consulting firm and a national ambassador for a major multiple sclerosis advocacy organization.  Jeff and Nicole are members of St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, have been members of the Texas Alliance for Life Leadership Circle for six years, and have served as delegates or alternates to the last three Republican Party of Texas state conventions.  Additionally, they are members of the following organizations:  National Rifle Association, Texas State Rifle Association, Georgetown Area Republican Women, Sun City Republican Club, Central Texas Young Republicans, Williamson County Republican Assembly, and the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce.  Jeff is an avid runner and has completed 10 marathons, including the Boston Marathon (twice), New York City Marathon, Chicago Marathon, Austin Marathon (4 times), and the Marine Corps Marathon (twice).
